The J34/S34 was the 20 cm streched Version of the J32/S32, which had been introduced two years earlier. This was first time that the Argentin German Frers designed a boat for Storebro. He drew a boat that should remind us of the historical lines of Solö built in 1951.
The major change to the J32 was that the entire seat could be lifted for better access to the engine compartment. In addition, the J34 had a complete cover for the folded aft canvas.
Hull
The development of the hull incorporated the experience gained from the construction of the SRC 90E. The keel area of the hull was reinforced in such a way that it is possible to go directly to the beach with the ship. An option that was sufficiently addressed in the promotional videos.
Another innovation was the option to order the hull in different colors ex shipyard. The most popular color was blue followed by yellow. But a white and a green ship were also produced.
The shipyard was also flexible when it came to the interior design. For example, it could be ordered in lighter-coloured birch instead of the familiar darker mahogany wood. The choice of wood for the interior fittings was first offered in 1991 for the SRC 380 Biscay, but was discontinued after two years of production due to extremely low demand. On the J34, however, every second ship was delivered with a birch interior.
Engines
Also new were the forms of propulsion of the ship. While during the last few years Storebro focused mainly on the drive shaft, now the customer could choose between a jet drive (J34) and the stern-drive (S34).
For the J32 there were only engines from Yanmar available. The only built S34 was equipped with Volvo Penta KAD44.
