Örnhavskryssaren was an attempt to produce sailing boats developed entirely in-house. Until then, AB Örnmaskiner had only built sailing boats such as the King´s Cruiser to order. This was to change with the Örnhavskryssaren. A young boatbuilding student was recruited as the designer. However, for various reasons, the boat was only built once.
The name of the boat type was based on the company name Örnmaskiner and used the Örn (eagle) as part of the name for the first time.
The next in-house production was presented two years later in 1962 with Havsörnen, designed by Olle Enderlein.
When testing the finished boat, it turned out that the keel weight was not sufficiently dimensioned and had to be changed. The lead bomb was connected to the hull with both bolts and glue. When all the bolts had already been loosened during the exchange, the keel still could not be separated from the hull. The glue used was obviously of excellent quality. The keel could only be removed by painstakingly cutting through the layer of glue.
