Drawings of the SRC 540 project date from January 1994. The SRC 540 was intended to extend the product range above the SRC 500.
Unlike the SRC 500, the SRC 540 was planned with four instead of three fixed cabins. The pentry was located in the deck saloon, unlike on the previous ships, but analogous to the SRC 730. This measure allowed for the fourth cabin to starboard.
The concept also provided for a crew cabin amidships. In reality, however, this space would probably have been needed for additional units such as a generator and heating.
In fact, this ship was not built and instead the development capacities were used for the development of the SRC 355.
Design
The exterior of the ship was also strongly reminiscent of the much longer SRC 730, but the design of the flying bridge took up the lines of the SRC 420 Biscay.
The similarity of the stern to that of the SRC 730 is also striking, and the later development of other boats with longer bathing platforms suggests that this design would certainly have been adapted and the length of the ship increased again.
