Remarks

The Storebro Royal Cruiser 730 was the absolute flagship Storebro.

Planning

Originally the ship had been projected as SRC 710. Optimizations in the design of the layout led to a corresponding extension. A first draft of the year 1991 was based on the "European" layout and even foresaw 90 degrees angled stairs below deck. Since the first ship was ordered by a Japanese customer, another layout option with more individual berths was built. The planned layout variant for the European market with larger master cabin was never built.
The original design included a targa arch instead of later built Gullwing-mast. With the introduction of the SRC 380/SRC 420 with the new "Gullwing"-mast also Storebros flagship should have been equipped with this. When visiting Storebro in 1993 a model on display was already provided with the "Gullwing"-mast but the targa arch was still besides.
The SRC 730 was built to the specifications of the Japanese classification society NKK (or ClassNK), which meant an enormous amount of extra work in terms of design and the materials to be used.

After the completion
The SRC 730 was launched on 1993-07-29. Here, the ship did not yet have its Flybridge. This was mounted only in the aftermath. Testing of the nearly completed ship took place in September 1993.
After the collapse of the world economy, the original Japanese customer stopped his order. He paid the ship but did not take it. The already completed ship was then for sale at Västervik. The contract for the construction of the second ship has been cancelled. The ship located in Västervik was sold to Germany in 1994. For several years the ships harbour was Travemünde, until the owner transferred it to Mallorca.
During the time, some modifications of the ship have been carried out. These included, inter alia, the outer helm at starboard side aft, more chairs at the helm and a retractable bathing platform.

After the death of the owner, the family sold the ship. The following owner, however, had to part with the ship again for economic reasons, after having invested a lot of money in the preparation of the ship. Later the ship was sold to a Norwegian at a dumping price. This Norwegian commissioned Storebro Boats to renovate the ship. In a spectacular transport, the ship, originally built in Västervik, was transported to Storebro. After disagreements about the progress of the work, the owner Asbjørn Abrahamsen moved the ship to the west coast of Sweden, where the renovation work is to be completed.
In 2022, the renovated ship was launched again and transferred to Norway. Several exterior changes were made as part of the renovation. These include the elimination of the black rubbing strake - the hull and superstructure now merge directly into one another. In addition, the somewhat simple cover of the lowerable bathing platform was exchanged for a more elaborately crafted model with teak covering.
