Companyfounder
Ivar Gustafsson |
Ivar Gustafsson was one the owners and founders of Örnmaskiner AB , which produced lathes as well as later leisure boats. He founded the company with his older brother Sigurd Gustafsson and their friend Georg Larsson. Before Larsson´s death, he took over the shares.
Ivar Gustafsson began his career as an errand boy and drawing assistant at the later competitor Storebro Bruk. Due to an illness of the owner at the time, the young Ivar came into direct contact with the construction of lathes and engines. At the end of the 1920s, his employer was unable to pay him a wage due to the economic situation. As compensation, Ivar Gustafsson was allowed to acquire the rights to a lathe. This laid the foundation for the company AB Örnmaskiner, which originally produced lathes, started building boats in 1946 and finally took over local competitor Storebro Bruk AB in 1963.
In 1971, Ivar Gustafsson left the company and handed over the management to his sons Roy and Lennart Ivarsson. Roy took over the management of the Storebro Bruks AB, Lennart was Managing Director of AB Storebro Royal Cruiser.

Visan's Skepp in Storebro - granite slabs with the most popular folk songs of the 19th century |
With the retirement Ivar renounced all payments from the company and wished only the transfer of the registered rights of Örnmaskiner AB to his person. He then took the Örnmaskiner AB to sell Storebro boats. Among other things, he used the profits to found the Bruksmuseum. He fulfilled his desire to create something everlasting with the construction of Visans Skepp, an installation of granite stones taken from the Vikings tradition that have been provided with lyrics.
Defective propeller shafts that had been replaced by the shipyard were used to hold the heavy stones in place. Their material still guarantees the secure positioning of the stones today.
