Elsebeth Gustafsson är dotter till en av grundarna av AB Örnmaskiner, Sigurd Gustafsson, och systerdotter till Ivar Gustafsson.

Elsebeth Gustafsson-Furthmair arbetade som inköpschef för maskin- och båtbyggnadssektorn från den 15 september 1968 till den 15 oktober 1989.

Hon var gift med tysken Georg Furthmair fram till hans död och är bosatt i Storebro.
